Cam icon should change when I am viewing

When I click the camera icon under a person’s name in the list, or select “View Camera”, the icon should change in some clearly visible way and the menu option should change to “Stop Viewing Cam” or something similar.

At present there is no way to tell if this toggle switch is on or off, unless the person’s cam appears on my screen. The problem is that frequently the cam does not display for some reason (another bug that needs investigating). What often happens is:

• I click the icon to view the cam, or to send a view request if the icon is orange indicating private.

• Nothing appears to happen. The cam does not pop up, and I do not get the message saying that the request has been sent (if applicable).

• I am left wondering whether to try again. Did I not click exactly on the icon? Or did I click correctly but the cam display is not working? If I click again, I don’t know whether the site thinks the cam is already on and that I want to turn it off.

What usually happens is that eventually give up and refresh the page, or even log out and in again. This often works, i.e. the person’s cam now comes up when I click the icon, but it means I have to again go through the whole procedure of turning my cam on, advising people that it’s on, and calling up the cams of the people I was viewing before I refreshed.
