Notes
I would love to see the ability to add personal notes about people on my view of their profile. This would be limited to people you are friends with. It helps in remembering names and details as chats disappear. There can even be a character limit if needed for memory sake. I just want to be able to recall people’s names so I can call them by it or remember details to follow up on in future conversations. posted on behalf of another user
Volume sliders blocked by usernames in Arena when many cams are online
Where there are a lot of cams in the Arena, the volume slider is blocked by each cam’s username making it impossible to change their volume or mute or unmute them. You should also be able to instantly mute or unmute a cam by clicking on the speaker icon instead of having to use the slider to slide the volume to zero.
Storage Area - Sorting?
I would love it if there was an option to sort files alphabetically in the storage area. (Or maybe even if the files were just movable up and down on the list to reorganize them.) Thanks for considering! 😻
Emoji's and Language Captions for Menchats Community
To whom this may concern: I'm in the corporate world and I've enjoyed the site in the very short time that I've been on here, however, I've noticed many new or existing individuals are not ready for CAM. In that regard, one limitation of getting to know someone through this site is that we're communicating primarily through pictures and words. In person or using cam, we naturally pick up on tone of voice, facial expressions, body language, pauses, and mannerisms, all of which help us understand what someone really means. Chat doesn't provide those same cues, so it's easy to misunderstand someone's intent. Using an occasional emoji or a short tone caption can help clarify whether something is meant seriously, playfully, affectionately, or simply as an opinion. It isn't about over explaining everything, it's about reducing unnecessary misunderstandings while two people are still learning each other's personality and communication style. I'm suggesting emojis and intentional language captions can help fill some of that gap. Obviously, the key is to use them strategically rather than excessively. I'll let you or others in deciding emojis that express the culture of this site and not so much the common or standard that already exist. Now, you could also use short tone captions, such as: 1(just kidding) 2(being playful) 3(seriously) 4(teasing you) 5(no offense intended) 6(I mean that sincerely) 7(just my opinion) 8(trying to make you laugh) 9) perhaps, sexual theme captions?
Open cam from main room
Using mobile device, to open a cam you should go to the user list. View cam option is not avaiable in the lobby (you can see profile, whisper, reply… but no view cam).
Member list does not refresh when users come online while search query applied
The recent update works when members go offline, but the member list still does not update when 1) a member comes online, 2) starts their cam, or 3) stops their cam. Refer to previous ticket: Member list does not refresh while search query applied To reproduce: 1) Enter a query into the search field above the member list. Have a member that is offline and that meets the search query login to the site. Note that the member list does not update and show the user as online. 2) Enter a query into the search field above the member list. Have a member that meets the search query start their cam. Note that the cam icon does not appear next to the member’s name. 3) Enter a query into the search field above the member list. Have a member that meets the search query who has their cam on stop their cam. Note that the cam icon is still shown next to the member’s name.
Remember Cam Sound setting
Due to the nature of this app… a lot of the time it is preferred to watch a cam but have the volume down. Instead of turning each and every cams sound down, apply the previous cam sound settings on the next one that is opened. 1) Open cam A 2) Mute cam A’s sound 3) Open cam B 4) Expected: Cam B’s sound is also muted
Ability to sort the groups that you follow so they are all together vs. spreads out
It would be extremely helpful to allow members to sort those groups they join so you can navigate easier between them instead of now having to sort through the pinned list and accidentally join a group because you misclick.
New UI design is incredibly confusing and non user friendly
The entire point of a cam site is to be fluid and user friendly. But I like while a lot of the previous filters are still there, they are harder to access and hidden behind too many menus. They don’t stay put and need to be reset constantly. I should not have to completely abandon the lobby and filter settings just to respond to a DM. I want to be able to respond to a DM while also keeping an eye on whispers or what’s going on in the lobby - without having to refresh my search of users each time! Usually when I log on, I set filters such as “filter by age” “filter by viewers” and “filter by camera”. But each time I leave the main screen, I have to reset those filters. And then on top of that, a bunch of extra unnecessary menu options like “storage” “languages” “rules” “donate” and “help” are contained within the same dropdown menu as “messages”. You really need to find a way to make the PRIMARY functions easier to access within this UI design. All of the SECONDARY functions can live within a hamburger menu ; just not the primary functions. Please feel free to reach out if you would like any more thoughts or advice. While I do not have a background in UI, I am a graphic designer, and have used this site a lot. I would be happy to collaborate. Lol. –jamesnyc
Availability marker
We used to have the opportunity to mark ourselves as available or busy, would love those options back.
Audible notifications
Would be nice to have a ping on all messages, maybe a different sound for ‘in group’ messages, ‘out of group’ messages’ and whispers. With an option to silent as-required. Currently very easy to miss whispers especially.
Member vs Guest in Room List
This may seem trivial to many. Currently everyone listed in a room is a member. However, only those of us that have registered are truly members. I know registered members are assigned colored names and guests are gray. Wouldn’t it be more recognizable to have non-registered members noted as “Guest” rather than “Member”.
Profiles shouldn't auto open when opening DMS
If I have 8 cams up its already difficult to manage the sizes of the cams + switching between lobby and dms. Everytime I open a dm, i have to manually close their profile to get cams back up to regular size, its a lot of clicks to a system that already requires a lot of clicking to bounce between things.
Invite to view cam!
Hi I generally use private cam and like to invite certain viewers to watch my cam, but this feature is not available right now. Please add it. I saw someone else asked for this but I’m seconding that
Labels are confusing
What happened to the old-fashioned idea of putting a label on something that actually tells you what it is? I have realised that this is a major reason why I sometimes struggle to do what I want on the new site, and I’ll bet I’m not the only one. Here’s an example, from the MenChats Guide: “Click Groups to browse all chat rooms”. A group of what? Of people with similar interests, presumably, but the button is for browsing and choosing a chat room, so wouldn’t it make sense to label it “Chat Rooms”? Another one: “Click on Messages to view your Private Conversations”. OK, then label the button “Private Conversations”! This is the right way to assign a label. What is it for? What’s in the tin? If it contains tuna, put “Tuna” on the outside of the tin. Simple! “Message” is a very general term; someone new to this site would probably expect it to mean anything you say to another user, possibly private, possibly not, and not necessarily part of a stored list. A “Whisper” (which is an example of a good name BTW) is a kind of message, and so is a “Mention” (which I would prefer to be called “Mention publicly” or “Shout”, to emphasise that it’s not private, but I have got used to it by now.) If someone in the room posted “Hi, how is everyone today?”, I might respond via Mention “Doing well tks”, and I think of that as a message, it’s a piece of information I don’t particularly need to be kept as a record. If I wanted to ask him “Would you care to fuck” and he responds “Wednesday would be good”, then I definitely want it private and I probably want to be able to later see what we said to each other. That’s a conversation, it’s more than just a message. And a piece of positive feedback from me for a change: I do like the fact that I can continue the private conversation even when the other is offline and they see it when they return. This is most useful.
Allow easy mic only chat
Add the ability to use only a mic (without a cam). On the old site this was easy, and there was a speaker icon instead of a video icon. In this version you can of course hook up a cam, but there’s no way to turn off the video. Sometimes it’s really hot to talk to someone on cam.
Blocking
This is a minor issue, but one that is important to me. It would be nice if when I block a user they either disappear from the online/members list, or are blurred out like they were in the previous version. That way I don’t have to keep seeing that person and thinking I haven’t blocked him.
Delete Bulk Message history
Observation: Currently, clearing message history is a slow, one-by-one process. I have to delete a single message, wait for a confirmation pop-up, confirm, and then repeat. For someone with a long history, this is extremely time-consuming. Suggested Improvement: "Select All" Checkbox: Add a checkbox system to the message list so I can select multiple (or all) messages at once. Bulk Delete Button: A single "Delete Selected" button that uses one confirmation prompt for the entire batch. Why this helps: It streamlines account maintenance and keeps the inbox from feeling cluttered. Most users expect to be able to "clean house" in a few clicks rather than dozens.
