Two (2) Unread Messages by Default

The Messages panel unread count isn’t working properly. It always shows 2 unread messages by default, and when a new message comes in it increases (e.g. 3), but the count doesn’t clear after opening the conversation. You have to click into the same chat multiple times before the unread indicator disappears. This is confusing and should be fixed so the unread count resets immediately after messages are viewed.
